Hello, Adventurers! The seasons are changing, but that royal pain in the butt is still hogging the Southern Prontera Field... That thing doesn't know when to quit! But even he won't stop the celebration of the Rune-Midgarts nation! Keep at it, adventurers!

For this update, we'd like to remind adventurers that the 2nd portion of the event, Pose With the King, is indeed present. Please have a look at it when you can. New festivities for the Rune-Midgarts Kingdom are also present, and the previous ones will still be acceptable.

Wrath of King Poring

Porings are well known as the expected first enemy encounter any Novice faces. Every adventurer has slain a Poring type, at least once… Or more, depending on the person. Such abuse has gone on for years, with many not thinking much of it. They'll always reshape and recombine themselves later. No need to feel alarmed, right? Mastering was laughed at, even among Novices who teamed up against it. Ghostring was born from such abuse, but even it proved most ineffective. Despite feeling superior to humans, even calling them 'lower races', Angelings were quick to be silenced. The cool and evil Deviling and its cohorts, despite being adept at surprising unprepared players, was left popped and plucked of its wings... Poor Arch Angeling was too busy fighting its horde to even notice human threats... Not content with the slaughter of his subjects, the battle hardened King Poring has had enough! Since Poring the Conqueror was on vacation, it was high time for the King to take revenge!

King Poring has appeared in the field directly South of Prontera, hordes of loyal Poring subjects flanking him, taking sadistic glee in bullying and injuring countless Novices and weaker 1st Class Adventurers! He even loudly announces his latest victim, the scoundrel! Protect the latest generation of heroes and stop King Poring! He may look intimidating, but he is still a Poring…

Event #1: Battle the King!

Players must do battle with this massive Poring under a special format, showcasing their skills as he demands for proper combat befitting of a King.

Keep in mind that players CANNOT one-shot him, so no Guillotine Glory Fists or one-toss Acid Bombs… He takes minimal damage from everything, but skills work on him. Don’t fret, though: We’re going to help out with the ‘plant damage’ issue, but you’ll still need to pull your weight!

Here is how fighting King Poring will work:

King Poring will start with 100 HP. With each battle entry, players must choose one of four options to do battle with:

Attack - Inflict 2 damage

Debuff/Trap - Deals no damage. Weakens King Poring, so next attack deals double damage. [Cannot stack two Debuff/Trap turns for quadruple damage.]

Buff - Deals no damage. King Poring will evade the next player attack. After King Poring evades, the next attacking player will deal 3x damage. [Cannot stack two Buff turns for 6x damage.]

Defend - Deals no damage, but gets King Poring’s attention. If the same player that Defended is the one who attacks King Poring next turn, that player attacks twice for 4 damage. If a different player attacks next, the damage will inflict 5 damage instead. If the next player does not attack, the attack buff will be nullified. [Cannot stack two Defend turns for extra damage]

Players can coordinate their plan of attacks with one another, but do remember that any entry received will affect player turns and the damage King Poring receives. In addition, if players wish to use skills on King Poring, players must use their own native class skills during their turn.. If it isn't native, then the entry will not count.

Guidelines:
:bulletred: Art submissions must be at least colored sketches. Rough comics are also accepted, but please make them legible! Literature submissions must be at least 300 words.
:bulletred: You may use the same character to keep attacking, or different characters to contribute to attack King Poring.
:bulletred: Each entry turn must be separated, for ease in calculating King Poring HP, turn conditions, etc.
:bulletred: You are allowed to work in groups, but each member must submit a separate entry to contribute to attacking.
:bulletred: All entries must be submitted to the Events folder.
:bulletred: Deadline for this event is October 1st!

Event #2: Face off with the King!

A group collaboration picture that has adventurers standing off with the King Poring! Stand proud and ready… Or get distracted by the fluffy Lunatics… Whichever works for you as the King Poring stands… sits… Whatever! He is poised for battle!

It seems he at least picked a rather open area to pause in, so arrange yourselves however you like!

Guidelines:

:bulletred: You are allowed to participate in the event with more than one of your characters. Only one, however, will count towards a reward.
:bulletred: All artwork submissions must be on a white or transparent background (transparent is preferred). There is no specific or standard size you will need to follow, but remember that it's much easier to shrink down a big file than enlarge a small file (a minimum of 900-1000 pixels in height is recommended).
:bulletred: All submissions must be full-body and fully colored. No sketches will be allowed. Both traditional mediums and digital mediums are allowed as long as they follow criteria.
:bulletred: All entries must be submitted to the Events folder.
:bulletred: Deadline for this event is October 1st!

Rewards:

Each participant that submits an entry to the King Poring Battle will have a choice of Poring Pin. A player may submit up to four entries to battle King Poring to earn all four.

If King Poring is defeated before the event ends, all participants will receive a King Poring Hat and three special “NPC Passes”. The NPC Pass allows the posting of up to 3 NPC characters per pass on their own, without requiring a main character.

Any player who participates in the group collaboration pic will have one choice of the above items as a reward. Subsequent entries with additional characters will not earn another.

Festivities

:new:

Birth of a Nation  - The Rune Midgarts Kingdom was established in August! The start of many adventures of the past began in August. As such, it is time to celebrate the founding of the nation! Rune-Midgardians, showcase your Kingdom Pride on its Anniversary! How does your character celebrate? How do they feel toward the Kingdom?

National Water Quality Month - August is the time where the water quality of various cities is often checked to be up to standard. Prontera’s Culvert is no exception, as it is the month where Thief Bugs tend to overcrowd the area. Adventurers are requested to quell an abnormally large swarm of Thief Bugs within Prontera Culvert. Please do what you can, within reason; If you cannot handle Golden Thief Bug, don’t even try to fight it.

Romance Awareness Month - Somewhat related, August is also Romance Awareness month. While not much of a big deal to many adventurers, it is especially major among monsters. Valuable research could be gained from witnessing activities among Orcs, Goblins, and Kobolds during this month… Adventurers are asked to document Orc, Goblin, and Kobold couples and report their activities during this “romantic” month. Whatever you can relay back to researchers, but do not engage the monsters. This is strictly recon!

Birthstone Hunting - The official birthstones of August are sardonyx and peridot. Each month, special birthstones are often sought after to make into jewelry and other gifts. This month is no exception, as vendors are always requesting adventurers to get their hands on them. But some beasts aren’t too fond of the idea of giving up their stones. Adventurers are tasked with getting a sardonyx, peridot, or even both from monsters. While a few monsters drop Sardonyx, only one ugly creature drops a peridot...

Gathering of Petitions and Concerns of the Kingdom - No Kingdom, no matter how much they promote otherwise, is perfect. As such, the Kingdom of Rune-Midgarts counts on its populace to speak out when there are grievances. If people wish to make change, they have to be driven to make it happen. If any adventurer wishes to voice their concern or start a petition with others, please do so. The Kingdom hopes to hear from everyone to improve as soon as possible. No matter how daring or dramatic, the people must be heard! Bear in mind that this is for Rune-Midgarts Kingdom.

Geffen Magic Festival - Every 3 years in Geffen, the Magic Festival is held for 15 days and is a major event in the city. Because the Magic Festival is such a big event, all shops in the city are closed for the duration of the event, with the exception of the Inn and the event vendor booths. Due to the celebration of Rune-Midgarts History, now is a great time to enjoy a new Magic Festival! Adventurers are asked to share their experiences with a major celebration of magic. Some take the time to come together to share research and joint study practical magic. Some participate in magical parades around the city. Others congregate into a hidden stadium to take part in a Tournament of Magic, a battle competition with a focal point of magic, similar to contests of strength. Choose a task and show yourself celebrating magic!

Monster Arena - Izlude was built to support Prontera's defenses and accommodate its burgeoning population. The Swordsman Association was once located within the walls of Prontera itself, but as the city's population boomed many Pronterans were forced to relocate to the more roomy Izlude. King Tristan III later had the Izlude Arena built to promote professional competition throughout the nation. Even now, many skilled adventurers gather here to show off their talents, collect rewards, and have their names listed in the arena's Hall of Fame. Adventurers are tasked with displaying their prowess in the arena to prove the Kingdom has no shortage of strong warriors, and to possibly get scouted by guilds. If one is lucky, maybe the famous Richard Family, one of the Seven Royal Families of Rune-Midgarts, may see the displays...

Recognition of Married Couples - The Island of Jawaii was a development project by the late King Tristan Gaebolg III, who was known to be kind, generous, and more shrewd than he let on. Being a previous officiator of weddings in Rune-Midgarts, he understood the wishes of newlyweds for a romantic vacation getaway to enjoy their unions. Wishing to heed their requests, as well as believing it to be a viable method to add to the Kingdom Treasury, King Tristan recalled the story of Frigg's Suffering, her heart becoming what is now known as Jawaii. To this day, the Island of Love lives up to its reputation as a romantic retreat, though it is also infamous for having powerful alcohol... In celebration of Rune-Midgarts, married adventurers are asked to send photographs enjoying some time on Jawaii. This will assist in tourism and overall good feelings to share for the Kingdom.

I have a question, and it might be a silly one, but you can inflict damage and debuff in a single turn? For example, there are skills that deals damage and also have a chance to inflic some status (such as stun or burning). Also, those statuses count as debuff?
