Who We Are

We are an open, free-form Ragnarok Online RP group! We do not have a set storyline, so feel free to be as creative as you want, as long as it fits in with the lore of the game, and have fun!

How to Join

:bulletblue: Please complete a character sheet before joining the group! The sheet can be found here. When filling out the app, please include the following details: Name, Gender, Job, Race, Height, Town, a small summary of who your character is, and personality details. Don't be intimidated; We're not asking for 500 word essays. Concise summaries are totally fine.

:bulletblue: When joining the group please add a link to your Character Sheet. If your character does not break any of the rules, it will be accepted. Please take a look at the rules here.

:bulletblue: When we accepted you to group, you may submit your Character Sheet to the Character Applications folder (the sub folders just serve as an archive).

:bulletblue: After your sheet is accepted, visit the Kafra Storage to have your items listed and submit your character to the Character List.

:bulletblue: Explore the community, make friends and have fun!

Please note the group with any questions!
Remember that ONLY GTRO related RO art is allowed. For your average RO fanart, please refer to the RagnarokArtists group~

Where to Role Play

:bulletblue: We now have a forum!

:bulletblue: Role Playing is highly encouraged in the chatroom!

:bulletblue: In-Game; Play Ragnarok Online and RP in game! Take a look at our server list and feel free to add yours!

:bulletblue: Through art! Many events support role play through comics!

:bulletblue: Retrospring, Skype, AIM and other various places outside of the community!

FAQ

Q: Why was my character sheet rejected?
A: Most likely because it did not follow the character creation rules. Please review them here.

Q: Why was my submission rejected?
A: We will let you know, but please read the rules to avoid rejection.

Q: Can I have a non-human character?
A: The best thing to do is run it by the GM to see if it's okay (it's suggested that you have a good story to back it up). Read the character rules to get an idea of what is accepted.

Q: I've never played the game before. Can I still join?
A: Of course! Don't be afraid to ask staff or other members to help you out if you're not familiar with something!

Q: Can I draw/color my character sheet traditionally?
A: Yes! Just copy it on to the character sheet, fill out the info, and you're good to go!

Q: I can't draw but I still want to join the group. Is there another way to make my character sheet?
A: Unfortunately, we don't have a different format aside from drawing. Ask a friend to make your app for you, and from then on you can submit whatever form of art you want.

Q: Can I join with any class or do I have to start out as a novice/first class?
A: You can join with any class.

Q: Can I change my character's class?
A: Yes, if it's what you want to do with your character's story, you can go from novice to first class, first class to second class, etc. However, Classing down or changing to a different class branch will incur a fee. To job change, you must depict your character doing their job change. Then make sure to update your character sheet so everyone knows about the class change.

Q: How does prize zeny work?
A:  They are added to the usual submission zeny you get for the type of work you submit. For example, if you submit a full body colored work for character spotlight, you get 30k + 50k = 80k.

Q: If I work on a submission with another member, do the both of us get zeny/prizes?
A:  Absolutely! We highly encourage working together or collaborating with other members. Unless it is stated otherwise, you can collaborate with another member for pretty much anything in this group. Of course, it should go without saying that the both of you should play equal or close to equal parts in the submission.

Q: Can I submit something featuring mature/18+/NSFW content or themes?
A: We are a PG-13 group and as such do not allow some mature content. Please see the rules for a list of guidelines on what is acceptable.

Q: Am I allowed to have any headgear/weapon/pet when I start out?
A: Yes, as long as they are not custom or God items.

Q: Can I modify my character's class outfit/uniform?
A: Yes, as long as it resembles the original class outfit.

Q: Can I change the color or look of an official headgear?
A: Color changes are absolutely acceptable. As for modifying the headgear, as long as the modifications are minimal enough that it still looks like the original official headgear, it's fine. Completely changing the headgear is not allowed: for example, instead of having a fox face for the Kitsune Mask, it's a bunny face instead.

Q: Can I modify an official weapon?
A: Yes, but keep changes minimal. And for simplicity, keep the name the same when you add your item in storage.

Q: Is there a limit to armor/accessories?
A: Because they don't really affect the group experience, there is no limit. Just don't go overboard! The same applies to cards.

Q: Can I switch out items later on?
A: No, you may not. That defeats the purpose of being active and gaining new items.

Q: I didn't reach my equip limit when I first joined. Can I add them later?
A: Yes, make sure to comment in the storage journal to update if you do.

Q: If an item I want isn't in the item shop, is there another way to obtain it?
A: There will be opportunities for you to gain gold coins for participating in events. You can trade in 5 gold coins for one headgear of choice.

Q: I want an item, but it was already used as a prize for a past event! Can I submit something for it and still get the item?
A: Unfortunately, once an event is finished, we no longer allow submissions for that event for prizes, other than the usual submission zeny. We also generally do not do repeat prizes for future events. Your best bet is either to save up gold coins by participating in currently active events or utilize one of your 3 free headgear slots for new characters.

Q: Can any of my characters use any item in my storage?
A: Yes, all your characters are free to use whatever you have in storage, regardless of what they started out with.

Q: Can a certain class use a headgear/weapon that can't be equipped in game?
A: Headgears are totally fine (you can even stack headgears if you want to get creative). As for weapons, it's best that you keep to a weapon that can be used by that class or at least come up with a reasonable story behind why/how they can use that particular weapon to avoid God-modding.

Q: Can I donate zeny/items to other players?
A: It is highly discouraged, but bring up a good reason to a staff member and it may be considered (donating zeny is not allowed in most cases). You can, however, buy items in the item shop for other people if you wish.

Q: Am I allowed to update my character sheet? And do I get zeny for it?
A: Yes, you are! Resubmit it to the group or notify a staff member and you will get zeny for it.

Q: If I submit a sketch, then color it later, do I get the zeny award for colored works?
A: There is no guarantee that extra zeny will be added if you update your work later unless you notify a staff member.

Q: If I'm in a guild, do I have to participate in WoE?
A: Whether your guild participates or not is up to the guild leader. However, it is not mandatory for individuals to participate (it would sure help your guild though).

Q: Are female bards/clowns/maestros or male dancers/gypsies/wanderers allowed?
A: Yes, they are allowed. I would love to see how a male dancer/gypsy/wanderer would work out, but we're not judging.

I was wondering where the guidelines (and cost) for submitting NPCs are? Linking me a journal is fine, I most likely missed it somewhere.

This just strengthens the need to make a formal journal for it As well as for notifications to be a bit better when we do get messages so I don't confuse them with other things in my message centre...

Presently, NPC information is located here: February Update: Super Group and NPC System

I'd suggest the dA Message Notifier for Chrome if you're having trouble with group messages. It splits messages received by type and group, plus it saves the messages for you when you get on.

If you don't use Chrome then never mind, I don't think there's any other equivalent for other browsers, and the dA feed is only if you're on dA.

Thanks for the link, looking forward to seeing it formalised.

No problem, and thanks for the suggestion.

That said, we're still looking to get feedback on this feature... In fact, we still want feedback, in general. If you have anything to mention about the current settings, feel free to speak your mind.

Gonna reply here cos I feel it's kinda redundant to go make a new comment.

I like the new journal! However, you have it linked absolutely nowhere, which makes it a prime target to get lost in your journal history once you have enough event journals chilling around after it. (Do not expect people to go searching for it, it'll just make them more frustrated and I'm sure you don't want that.) In addition, you still have this in your Rules:

"You can only create a Player Character. [No GMs, Monster, NPC]"

I suggest you make a new bullet point and add the NPC journal there, linking it like you did with the Adoption blog and remove that rule. It's easier to have all the info in one place, and if not, links should be in that place.

Good thing I was right here. Trust me, we are fully aware. I just got back from work, so I can work on it now.

Thanks for noticing the NPC bit, though! I'll fix that after this reply.

As long as it's laid out in an organised fashion and easily accessible somewhere where it makes sense (putting it on a journal where any potential/current member can find out exactly what they need to do before they join without having to navigate a maze of archived journals or links hidden in journals) I wouldn't really ask for much else.

here's a journal with information - fav.me/d9q771e
you can also submit an app with the new NPC application sheets which you can find in the gallery if you want something more visual

I'll update this journal with the NPC information shortly :)

Thanks! I'd honestly rather have a formal journal, but this'll do for now.

Hey after being dead for years. I wanted to ask about this

"Q: Am I allowed to update my character sheet? And do I get zeny for it?
A: Yes, you are! Resubmit it to the group or notify a staff member and you will get zeny for it."

I have 2 characters, my main will be completely rework. Still have the same name and job, hair/eye color, but new personnality, new design, new headgear.

The other one well.. I would really like to completely change him from A to Z, but if it's no possible to change the class, I would like to change his name/design.

Is it possible ?

Thank you for you answer >3<

Long time no see! 8D

For both cases, we will allow you to change their names, designs, and personalities, but they must keep their original classes. Also you can't swap out their headgears for new ones, and can only use headgears you already have in storage.

Another option would be "starting over" by leaving and rejoining the group. We'll wipe your characters, bank and storage, and you'll have to earn back the zeny to buy your second character slot again, but you won't have the job and gear restrictions we mentioned 8)

Can we do a bargain like, I gave up on the second character (everything), but i can redo my first one with new headgears T_T

Since you don't really want to keep your second character, I think the best option would be to start over. As mentioned in the previous comment, we'll wipe your characters, storage and zeny so you can start fresh and we won't restrict class and headgear changes. You'll lose the contents of your storage, true, but you'll have the chance to get them back through the item shop or events by collecting gold coins (5 coins = any headgear).

Well, i would want to keep my second character but i would prefere wiping my main and keeping the storage. I know i don'T have as much as some people have since i was inactive for a long moment, but what i have in storage i worked for it >< and some of the item aren't in the shop anymore or i won't be able to rebuy them before february @_@

If you really want to keep your storage items but want new headgears to use, the only option left is to work for them, really 8( Earn the zeny to create a third character with the gears you want, or to replace one of your existing ones. With character spotlights, quests, and the vending lane, it's not very hard to get zeny anymore.

The character on the character sheet has to be in color. Flat color is absolutely fine.

Knowing the color scheme of your character makes sense in situations where other people want to draw your character or something like that too.

That depends if you do your research or not, especially since those towns are not populated by humans. They're allowed if it's convincing enough.

As I already answered in my previous reply, they're allowed if the story is convincing enough. As I already said, these towns are not populated by humans, so unless you are following the race of the town or have a good reason as to why a human would be there, then they are allowed, but they must be convincing.

OMG, I'm sorry I keep asking questions. QAQ

I'm currently debating between submitting my minstrel or my alchemist as a character, but I have a few things that I'm unsure of.

I know that a character is allowed to have up to two weapons. My minstrel is very much East Indian-inspired and I often draw him with what looks like a really long lute. This weapon isn't technically in RO though. Alternately, I also want to try drawing him with one of the traditional Chinese stringed instruments, the guzheng which looks a little like a Gumoongoh, except it's played horizontally instead of vertically (as bard NPC sprites in RO seem to show). Considering that these two weapons aren't actually real items in RO, am I allowed to use them?

For my alchemist, he went through the homunculus reset on iRO recently. He originally had a Filir and eventually switched to a Vanilmirth. Is he allowed to have both homunculi? Though I guess he could always have a Filir hat in place of the actual homunculus. xD

The weapons are fine by me! We allow quite a bit of modding in this group, so they can literally be unique visual forms of weapons in RO. You can call them a lute and gumoongoh in your storage, for the sake of simplicity and confusion, but draw them a bit differently! No problem!

The two homunculi might be too much though, I would prefer you go with the Filir hat and Vanilmirth idea~

Don't worry about asking questions, questions are always welcome!

This might be a stupid question and/or not very relevant, but how does RPing work for the group? I've noticed for events certain people will draw comics including other characters on GtRO (or the event being hosted will require items from another character like the Scavenger Hunt). If you don't know anyone in the group personally, would you note them asking if you could use their character or would you just use them and hope for the best (but god-moding is against the rules, I'm guessing?)?

Not at all! Members RP in many different ways. One of the most popular way to RP in this group is in the chatroom, although we have members in many different time zones, so it's hard to say when most people are on, but if you check periodically, you should eventually see someone in there! If you're looking for a 1-on-1 RP, then RPing through dA notes or some sort of messenger program like MSN or Skype are also common.

Another way to RP that's been getting a LOT of activity lately is through Formspring! You can check the Player List to see who has a Formspring!

You can note other members to use their characters in submissions to be courteous, although I know many members don't mind if their characters are used for certain things (i.e. memes or events like the scavenger hunt). To be safe, I suggest you either note for permission or drop by the chatroom to get to know people more! :D

I hope that helped!
